Begin 2012 with what you have – oil painting in progress

I am hoping to get down to the seashore for dawn but the rain has arrived first. So, refusing to be left empty-handed on the first morning of the year, I have decided to share a detail from a painting in progress.

The over all painting is still not settled on the canvas yet but I like this part of it.

SPROUT: Do you find this sometimes too – where a detail may even become the finished work?

In this case, I think the complete 12 X 12 inch canvas will come together but we shall have to wait and see.

Wishing us all the most inspiring, imaginative, creative and successful 2012!

Terrill – I sure like it the way it is — it looks 3-dimensional.

SPROUT: Do you find this sometimes too – where a detail may even become the finished work?

Not often, but yes. In the coming weeks at Speaking from the Heart I’ll be using a photograph that was meant as a detail — just an aspect — but has ended up being the whole.

In 2012 I wish that your every dream comes true; that you find yourself surrounded by friends, laughter, and good times; that your every cup runneth over financially, romantically, spiritually, and creatively; and that good health be your faithful companion, peace your guarded ally, and love your perpetual guide.

A joy-filled New Year’s to YOU and YOURS,

    - Laurie

I am looking forward to seeing your image when it is up. Thank you for the wishes for the year ahead as well. Now I am going to get busy and share up this morning’s dawn here on Mayne Island.

Wishing you a creative and inspiring new year too.
Love the work in progress…and we are having clear sunshine today – partner got a group bike ride in today.

I just took a quote from the book I am reviewing and it became the focal point of the whole review. I think a painter and detail person would like this book very much…but maybe they already understand the context of the details? Goes up tomorrow….the writer has a fine sense of humor and young children….good storytelling is like good painting: joyful

Sound fascinating Patricia. I will keep my eye open for the post. I agree too when you say “good storytelling is like good painting: joyful.” I think this is true if if the story or painting a gloomy or distressful – we tend to enjoy fine work regardless of the subject.

That is beautiful. Makes me miss the feel of sand and water on my toes.

Winsomebella this was a warm summer morning and like you I miss the bright warmth of the sand and water in August.
